With just four weeks remaining until Somerford’s Park Premier League Dressage Show 28th – 30th May the excitement is beginning to build as entries start coming in.

This popular venue is always well supported among the equestrian fraternity and the stars are beginning to line up ahead of this year’s exciting event.

Following her domination of last year’s young horse classes, current London 2012 Olympic Gold medalist Charlotte Dujardin makes a welcome return to Somerford Park and has her sights set once again on the stars of the future.

 

Alongside Charlotte are a strong contingent of Britain’s dressage elite including Emma Hindle, Ryan Todd, and Gloucestershire based rider Matt Frost is back to see if he can improve his 2nd place in last year’s Prix St Georges. Winners of last year’s Intermediare II, Warwickshire based rider Gareth Hughes along with Pippa Hutton will be back to defend their titles.

Being Olympic year our minds are very much focused on Rio and looking ahead to 2020 – Tokyo isn’t that far off – it’s not just the horses who are showcasing their future talent, Somerford Park is one of the Selection Trials for Ponies, Juniors and Young Riders. Providing a unique opportunity for many of our young dressage riders seeking team selection ahead of the European Championships to showcase their expertise;

Among those competing at Somerford Park – Cheshire based Ottilie Bardsley, Emma Bond, Jessica McConkey, and Chloe Vell who has represented Great Britain since the age of 12, in the midst of a flourishing modeling career and aiming towards Young Rider team selection.

Spectators can expect to see top young riding talent in the TopSpec Under 25 Grand Prix, and exciting future horse prospects in the British Dressage Young Horse qualifiers. Highlights of the weekend include the Prix St George, a direct qualifier for the LeMieux National Championships in September plus Grand Prix and Freestyle to Music.
