Britain’s leading lady showjumper Laura Renwick hopes she will have plenty to celebrate at the Equestrian.com Liverpool International Horse Show later this month.
Not only will Laura celebrate her birthday on New Year’s Eve – the opening day of what is set to be a scintillating three-day spectacular at Liverpool’s waterfront Echo Arena – but she is also part of an exciting new partnership.
Laura will be aboard horses normally ridden by her friend and rising star Yazmin Pinchen, including last year’s Bolesworth Grand Prix winner Van De Vivaldi, with Yazmin, who is expecting a baby, currently resting from competition.
“I am actually bringing some different horses to Liverpool, and lucky enough to be riding for Yazmin,” Laura said. “She is having a baby, so I have got a couple of her horses to ride.
“I am taking the Boleseorth grand prix winner Van De Vivaldi, which means there is a bit of pressure on me! I went to a show for the first time earlier this month, so it’s quite a new partnership, but I am very lucky to be riding for her.
“It’s also my birthday on New Year’s Eve, so that is a good excuse for a party! I am looking to finish off what has been a good year at Liverpool.”
Essex-based Laura is among a world-class entry for Liverpool from December 31-January 2, when she will be joined by the likes of Scott Brash, John Whitaker, Michael Whitaker, defending Liverpool Grand Prix champion Billy Twomey, Italian stars Emanuele Gaudiano and Piergiorgio Bucci, plus Germany’s Philipp Weishaupt.
“It was a super show last year – a huge success. To make a show work so well in its first year was really something,” she said.
“I had never been to Liverpool before, but the support was brilliant in a fantastic arena. It was a great atmosphere and pretty special.
“As riders, we spend so much time on the road trying to get ranking points, it’s just so lovely to have these type of big events in our own country and your own support to get behind you. It makes it more special.”
Showjumping action will be interspersed with performances that hold a wide family appeal, including music from the UK’s no 1 ABBA tribute band ‘Revival’, the Shetland Pony Grand National, world-class carriage driving, the Black Fire Girls and so much more.
And New Year’s Eve itself promises to be an unforgettable night, with exclusive acts lined up, including Collabro, the world’s number one musical theatre boy band and the winners of Britain’s Got Talent series 8, plus the Equitop Myoplast Puissance, which is always a show-stopper, and a spectacular indoor display of fireworks.
All tickets give access to the show’s shopping village from 9am each day, with the shopping experience featuring a fantastic range of products from high-end equestrian outlets, exclusive fashion retailers, unusual giftware and beautiful things for the home. There will be many food and drink outlets on-site, including an upstairs Champagne Bar and the new Mersey View restaurant, which is open all day and suitable for all the family.
VIP hospitality, meanwhile, offers a spectacular first-class ringside dining experience on the newly-designed raised platform at the head of the arena. Prices start from £165 + VAT per person. For information about all of the hospitality options, including private boxes for 12 people, please contact Mel at the show office on 01829 307676.
