Excitement is building with just over a week remaining until Somerford’s Premier League Dressage Show. Entries for this year’s event have exceeded all expectations – the event runs over bank holiday weekend 28th – 31st May.
Due to the high number of entries event organisers are delighted to announce that the show will start one day early with classes taking place from lunch time on Friday 27th May.
As we look forward to an exciting summer of sport and Rio just weeks away this is an ideal opportunity to watch some of our top riders as they continue their Olympic preparations.
Confirmed entries include Olympic gold medallist, and reigning World and European individual champion – Charlotte Dujardin who returns to Somerford to head an all star line up of British Dressage’s elite, including Michael and Marie Eilberg, Emile Faurie, Becky Moody, Charlie Hutton and Emma Hindle.
Looking beyond Rio to Tokyo 2020 – our stars of the future will be showcasing their talent. Somerford Park is one of the Selection Trials for Juniors and Young Riders and provides a unique opportunity for many of our young dressage riders seeking team selection ahead of the European Championships to showcase their expertise.
‘The Premier League Dressage has always been well supported but we’re thrilled with this year’s high entries,’ said Event Organiser Millie King.
‘We took the decision to accommodate the large number of entries by starting a day early and using our new indoor arena which was built over the winter and incorporates a fabulous Andrews Bowen surface.’
Spectators can expect to see top young riding talent in the TopSpec Under 25 Grand Prix, and exciting future horse prospects in the British Dressage Young Horse qualifiers. Highlights of the weekend include the Prix St George, a direct qualifier for the LeMieux National Championships in September plus Grand Prix and Freestyle to Music.
